A. Lange & Söhne 1815 Rattrapante Perpetual Calendar Ref. 421.025FE (2021)
The A. Lange & Söhne 1815 Rattrapante Perpetual Calendar is a pinnacle of German watchmaking, combining two of the most demanding horological complications. This 2021 model, housed in a substantial $41.9\,\text{mm}$ platinum case, represents the ultimate in classical design and mechanical ingenuity.
The silver dial is a masterpiece of balance, featuring four sub-dials that seamlessly integrate the perpetual calendar indications—including date, day, month, leap year, and moonphase—with the complex split-seconds chronograph. The "rattrapante" function allows for the timing of two simultaneous events, managed by the additional pusher at 10 o’clock.
At its heart is the manually wound Calibre L101.1, a movement consisting of 631 parts, each finished to the highest Saxon standards. Through the sapphire-crystal back, one can admire the hand-engraved balance cock, polished levers, and heat-blued screws. This timepiece is not just a watch, but a monumental achievement in precision engineering and traditional artistry.
